The 2017 Annual Conference of Thermal Spraying Industry of China Surface Engineering Association was held in Shenyang on sept. 12, 2017. On this invigorating Autumn Day, a record-setting number of 215 attendees presented at the conference for which Beijing UCT, as in previous years, was still one of the major sponsors.
Penn Jia, President of UCT, delivered a speech entitled "The Application of 3D Scanning and Off-line Robot Programming Technologies in the Field of Thermal Spraying" which aroused strong interests from the participants attending the conference. The Host of the conference Dr. Tao Shunyan, a well-known thermal spray researcher of Shanghai Silicate Research Institute, immediately expressed his affirmation to the professionalism of Jia’s speech and indicated the urgent demand of China’s thermal spray industry to the said technologies.
Compared with the traditional teaching programming of robot adopted before, the off-line programming technology can shorten the time required for generating robot path from half a year to half a day, which greatly improves the efficiency for programming of the robot for parts of complex shapes. UCT Beijing carried out the secondary development on basis of the ABB RobotStudio's off-line programming software, making it easier to learn and more convenient for being mastered by the ordinary on-site thermal spray operators.
3D scanning and off-line robot programming technologies are also the core technologies for automatic grinding and polishing of blades (aircraft engines and ground-based industrial gas turbines), which have long been applied globally.
At present, UCT has begun to provide the off-line programming technology related services and sales of software.
