Beijing Langqiao Surface Tecnology Co. announced it has launched a new type of nickel-aluminum composite wire for bondcoat use and name the new product LX103. The LX103 wire is a kind of NiAl cored wire. But instead of filling the nickel powder into the aluminum tube, it fills a solid nickel wire into the aluminum tube and bond them together as a single wire tightly. So as compared to the traditional powder cored wire, LX103 is a solid cored wire or a hard cored wire.
During the flame spray process, LX103 nickel-aluminum solid cored wire exhibits some practical advantages, such as no powder leakage and easier to be driven by gears in the gun. Compare with NiAl alloy wire, LX103 which is a composite wire bonded with two raw metals, allows both the nickel and aluminum to retain their original metal activity, as a result, a much stronger exothermic reaction occurs upon spraying, and the higher bonding strength of coating can be obtained. Meanwhile, LX103 coating can achieve higher hardness, so it can be used for some wear resistant applications. And certainly, NiAl is also a good corrosion resistant coating choice.
